Duru
Details
A timeless piece of Anatolian heritage, where simplicity meets colour and history finds new life.
Duru, meaning “Pure” or “Clear” in Turkish, is more than just a handbag , it is a celebration of natural beauty, traditional craftsmanship and the art of giving treasured textiles a second life.
Lovingly handcrafted from an authentic vintage Turkish heybe (saddlebag), traditionally used to carry belongings across the Anatolian countryside, this one-of-a-kind creation preserves the beauty and character of a textile rich in history.
For generations, Anatolian saddlebags were woven with intricate geometric patterns and expressive colours, reflecting the creativity and craftsmanship of the communities that made them.
Duru brings this heritage to life through a beautiful harmony of turquoise, burnt orange, deep burgundy, earthy brown and black, woven into delicate diamond-shaped motifs against a soft ivory background. Each colour and pattern adds its own character, creating a striking balance between vibrant tradition and understated elegance.
Thoughtfully transformed into a contemporary tote, Duru features warm terracotta-coloured handles that complement the natural tones of its original vintage textile.
The back of Duru has been intentionally left in its original vintage condition. Its beautifully aged ivory weave, subtle red detailing and natural variations in texture have been preserved rather than altered or covered.
We believe these little imperfections are not flaws, but precious reminders of the textile's previous life. They are part of its authenticity, carrying the quiet beauty of time and tradition.
The contrast between Duru's colourful geometric front and its beautifully simple reverse reflects the meaning behind its name, a celebration of purity, balance and natural beauty.
By repurposing an original Anatolian saddlebag, Duru celebrates slow fashion, sustainability and the preservation of traditional craftsmanship.
No two vintage textiles carry exactly the same history, making each creation truly unique.
Once a saddlebag, now a timeless treasure. A story of Anatolia, carried with simplicity, colour and soul.
Rooted in heritage. Reborn with purpose. Beautiful in its simplicity.

Materials & Craftsmanship
All our bags are individually handmade, one by one, using 100% handwoven vintage textiles that have been carefully repurposed into new designs.
As we exclusively use authentic vintage materials, natural variations in colour, texture, weave, and signs of previous use may be present. These are normal characteristics of vintage textiles and should not be considered defects.
Due to the handmade nature and age of the materials, our bags may not have the uniform or flawless finish of factory-produced items.
All bags are fully lined on the inside to provide additional structure, protection, and durability.
